SS (Smart Smooth)

Functionality that enables smart storage and connection

The “SS (Smart Smooth)” fitting features a smaller nut shape than standard fittings, allowing for more compact hose bundling and greater hose storage capacity. Additionally, the nut's inner shape is designed to ensure smooth connection even when the male fitting is slightly angled.

Issue

We want to increase the amount of hose loaded onto fire trucks beyond current levels.

Feature

We have successfully reduced the outer diameter of the nut while maintaining the functionality of the previous model. This allows hoses to be stored more compactly, enabling storage of one additional hose.
Simultaneously, we redesigned the inner surface of the nut, making it easier to connect than the previous model.

The Developer's Vision

We developed this product in response to field requests for “more hose capacity in a smaller space.” We successfully reduced the size of 65mm fire hoses by approximately 10mm. This allows 11 hoses to fit in a space previously holding only 10, earning enthusiastic praise from firefighters on the front lines. We are delighted by this positive feedback and feel strongly committed to continuing to meet our customers' needs.
